Built originally as a Benedictine monastery and set in a castle in the fortified village of Camon, L'Abbaye-Chateau de Camon is beautifully restored, with an exquisite salon, 10 individually-decorated rooms (some of them former monks' cells) and a terrace running the length of the chateau which offers views of the landscaped gardens. The restaurant serves refined cuisine, and there's an outdoor pool.

While we knew we wanted something traditional with some rustic charm, we quickly learnt that French wedding criteria  out for the entire weekend.isn’t the same. Camon had it all and meant we could hire the whole place...We wanted our guests to feel relaxed so while we were having our family photos taken they entertained themselves with games of croquet and cooled off sitting by the pool...Our photographer...was willing to travel up from Malaga for the weekend. His first words as he walked through the chateau doors: ‘my eyes are bleeding, it’s so beautiful’. Praise, indeed.
